Teochew Mooncakes

Posted on 31/08/200815/12/2023 By Reedz

Teochew style mooncakes are different from the usual mooncakes that we are used to seeing in supermarkets and specialty shops. These mooncakes have a flaky skin which is similar to puff pastry. The filling is typically yam instead of the usual red-bean or lotus paste. Different as it may be from traditional mooncakes, E of Foodie Tales and Senor Pablo will agree, it simply ROCKS!

They cost B$5.00 with yolk and B$4.50 without. Fantastic little snack for breaking fast this ramadan. To order, call 8779930 or email [email protected]

Skilled hands with lines to tell they’ve been through a whole lot…

Yes, these hands belong to my mother… the best mum in the whole wide world!
I love you mummy 🙂

Its Mooncake Season!

Posted on 22/08/200823/08/2008 By Reedz

Congratulations to local golfing hero Seruji Setia, who wrote a slice of golf history at the Brunei Open when he became the first local player to qualify for the weekend rounds at the US$300,000 Asian Tour event on Friday. The 39-year-old fired a commendable two-under-par 69 at Empire Hotel and…

A quick shout out to these young ladies who are leaving for the UK soon to continue their studies. Two of them, Rabiatul and Waji, will be heading for Cheltenham Ladies College near where my bro lived when he was studying at Gloscat. Thanks to Rabiatul for the pic 🙂…

Farewell Dr and Mrs Shah

Posted on 15/08/200815/08/2008 By Reedz

Last night, da missus and I had the pleasure of attending a dinner organised by Dr Shah and his family at OGH, where we were immersed in a gathering of the close-knit Bengali community in Brunei. The warmth and friendliness of this community was very apparent and I felt privileged…

69 and still going strong

Posted on 14/08/200814/08/2008 By Reedz

Happy Thursday everyone! Couple of weeks ago, the FIL, the gentleman on the left in the pic above (on the right is my dad 🙂 ) turned 69 and all the grandkids decided to throw him a party… Don’t let the age fool you though. The FIL is still as…
