The event brought back nostalgia on the history and glory days of the boat races on the Brunei River. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to watch and participate in a special boat race at the regatta.
