Brunei Darussalam Royal Regatta 2012

The waters of Brunei River was transformed today. From the sights of water taxies it had changed to that of boats and speed boats and highlighted with the noise of support and applause from members of the public watching the Brunei Darussalam Regatta 2012 at the Waterfront, Bandar Seri Begawan.

The event brought back nostalgia on the history and glory days of the boat races on the Brunei River. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to watch and participate in a special boat race at the regatta.

The championship will become an annual event and will be included in the ‘Calender of Events’ to glorify the atmosphere of Bandar Seri Begawan and attract domestic and overseas tourists.
