When the Tap Goes Silent Posted on 02/02/202602/02/2026 By Reedz Last week’s water disruption was uncomfortable. Buckets replaced showers. Routines became workarounds. It was inconvenient, but also humbling. For a brief moment, we were reminded how dependent we are on something we usually take for granted. How quickly comfort slips when a basic need falters. This was not a crisis. It was a preview. A temporary inconvenience, softened by the knowledge that things would be fixed. That help was coming. That normal would return. In many parts of the world, water is not a given. It is a daily uncertainty, measured, rationed, worried over. A reminder of how thin the line is between stability and vulnerability. If a few dry days unsettled us, perhaps the lesson is not frustration, but gratitude. And empathy. A quiet thank you is also due to the relevant authorities and the many volunteers who worked tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to restore supply and ease the inconvenience. Their efforts remind us that resilience is not abstract. It is people showing up and doing the work. May we not forget the lesson once the tap flows again.
