Over the weekend, Pusat Ehsan held its 7th Charity Bazaar at the Jubilee Park for the first time in a three-day event starting August 31.

It is one of the many events organised by Pusat Ehsan for 2012 following its successful fund-raising half marathon event, ‘The Run’ recently.

The bazaar is an annual event and is a fundraising activity where coupons can be purchased for $5 each and can be used to purchase goods for the charity bazaar as well as take part in activities and a chance to enter the lucky draw. People can also purchase the coupons from four other outlets which are the KFC branch in Gadong Central, Pastamania branch in Times Square as well as Fitness Zone in Kiulap and Serusop.

For the first time since its establishment, the event was held outside the Pusat Ehsan compound so as to make the event more accessible to members of the public.

According to Aaron Goh, one of the committee members for the charity bazaar, another reason why the event was located away from the Bengkurong centre was to “bring the special needs awareness to a greater height”.

He added that the event is also in line with the ‘National Family Day’ theme that was initiated by His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim.

The British High Commission participated in the Pusat Ehsan’s 7th Charity Bazaar with its London 2012 Paralympics themed booth.

With the Paralympic Games running from Wednesday, August 29 until Sunday, September 9, the British High Commission saw this as a perfect opportunity to get Bruneians excited about the Paralympics, especially with Brunei’s first para-athlete, Shari Hj Juma’at, to debut at the Games where he is a medal contender in the javelin event.
