Congratulations ThinkBig Ignite Winners! Posted on 24/02/201211/08/2023 By Reedz A TEAM developing an innovative financial learning application emerged as this year’s champion at ThinkBig Ignite 2011. BruInnovEdu, helmed by Shavon Hon and Vincent Wong, returned home with the biggest prize money from the competition worth $20,000 under the competition’s ICT Open Business Plan Category, putting them among the ranks of the competition’s past winners such as Crescent’s Online Education, Infindo Technology, LoveFoodHateWaste and GoHalal, among others. The team also won the Outstanding Rookie Award and the AITI (Info-communications Technology Industry) Multimedia Award in the competition. Just behind BruInnovEdu were first and second runner-ups deal-making site Socialdeal and online bookstore Nollybook, both walking away with $10,000 and $5,000 respectively during yesterday’s awards presentation ceremony at the Empire Hotel and Country Club. Speaking to The Brunei Times on the winners’ next journey after Ignite, BEDB’s senior business development manager Nurul Ain Jaafar said that the prize money is just the beginning for the winners, as iCentre opens its doors to help develop their business plan into a working business. “Winning Ignite is just a winning ticket to iCentre. Though the prize money may be sufficient for startup, they can also leverage on any or all of the programmes and initiatives being implemented by the BEDB beyond Ignite,” she said.
