Brunei Infocomm Federation signs MOU with Korea Telco association Posted on 13/05/201413/05/2019 By Reedz THE InfoComm Federation of Brunei (IFB) will be collaborating with Korea Telecommunications Operators Association (KTOA) in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) for the next two years. The cooperation between the two countries was finalised in yeterday’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under the MoU, both parties have agreed to cooperate in the ICT sector where “joint expertise, resources, research activities and combined efforts can accelerate progress towards mutual goals,” according to a statement issued by the IFB. IFB Chairman Pg Abd Ghani Pg Hj Metusin said the MoU “represents a good opportunity for a mutual knowledge exchange of information and initiatives” with its esteemed counterparts from South Korea, one of the leading ICT countries in the world. “We hope to promote closer cooperation on various aspects of international and regional ICT in the public and private sectors,” he said in a speech delivered during the MoU’s signing. Pg Abdul Ghani signed the MoU for the IFB, while Jeong Seon Seol, KTOA’s vice chairman, signed in behalf of his organisation. The MoU also entails promoting growth in the ICT industry and building a fruitful partnership through exchange of regular visit programmes, meetings and information. Other areas of cooperation include, exchange of data, information and publications; assistance in international and domestic events, exhibition and various work activities; organising and participating in meetings as well as facilitating exchange of information; and joint research and development of ICT issues. Representatives from government agencies, the Authority for Info-Communication Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), IFB, KTOA and private sectors were also at yesterday’s signing. KTOA was established in 1996 to promote mutual cooperation, self-regulation and fair competition among Korean telecom operators.
