A sea of more than 10,000 people painted the town red last night in what was dubbed the largest charity event ever held in the country at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddin.

The HSBC Walk, Run, Cycle (WRC) 2012 themed “Unleash their abilities”, was held for the first time in the evening in support of charitable organisations that provide education and skill training to special needs children such as KACA, SMARTER, Pusat Ehsan and Learning Ladders.

The event saw the participation of people from all walks of life who were divided into different categories of cycling, running or walking at designated routes going out and back into the capital.

Also participating was Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, who joined the 11.5km run category Other members of the royal family were also seen taking part in the event.

Prior to the flag-off for participants of the 11.5km, 6km and 2km run and walk route, a warm-up was held for the thousands of participants led by fitness instructors from Fitness Zone. Flagging off the routes were HSBC Brunei’s CEO Vincent Ho and representatives from the sponsors of the event.
