AB Goes Walkabout: Melbourne

Posted on 04/04/201225/01/2023 By Reedz

Hi folks! I just got back from a bonza weekend in Melbourne covering Royal Brunei Airline’s special event commemorating the first anniversary of its flight to Melbourne, the frequency of which has now been increased from 4 times a week to 7 times a week. I’ve not been down under for quite some time and so this is one trip I was definitely looking forward to.

Meeting our pilot

Don’t these boys look fresh after a 7 hour flight?

@sodesa and his son Lucien at The Supper Club. Tks for the treat!

The flight to Melbourne takes around 7 hours and because I was traveling biz class, it was a breeze. More about the biz class experience in another post. We arrived in Melbourne at around 10pm and finally made it to the hotel close to midnight, which was around 9pm Brunei time.

Socmed buddy @sodesa and his son Lucien took us out for supper and conversation at this place called, appropriately, The Supper Club. It was great to catch up with @sodessa and also to meet Lucien. Finally got back to the hotel around 2.30am. Sleep came eventually at around 4am… Not too bad. Still got 4 hours sleep before having to get up for the first day of activities.

This is the view that greeted me in the morning

Not quite the great aussie brekkie 🙂

The first stop of the day after breakfast was the Eureka Skydeck. Eureka Skydeck 88 has awe inspiring views of Melbourne from the observation deck of the highest public vantage point in the Southern Hemisphere. Thanks to Melbourne Tourism, we were able to have the place to ourselves and more importantly, to experience The Edge! Skydeck 88 is the only observation deck in the world that can thrill you with ‘The Edge’ – a glass cube which projects 3 metres out from the building – with you in it – suspended almost 300 metres above the ground! Kajar2 jua yooo!

These guys certainly earn their pay!
