iMMerse workshop – “Creative Process – Inspirations and Impacts” Posted on 08/01/2012 By Reedz A workshop featuring local professional photographer Jason Ong and talented-graphic designer. Olivia Ong was held recently, organised as part of the iCentre’s iMMerse programme, at the iCentre in Berakas. Amateur and professional photography and graphic design enthusiasts turned up for the ‘Photography for Impact’ workshop, which saw Jason Ong talking about his interest in photography and how he developed his career, while Olivia Ong spoke of her insight and inspirations drawn from her designing and creative journey so far. The audience was awed by the two speakers as Jason Ong showcased his travel portfolio, while Olivia engaged the audience with her experience and background throughout her six-year journey to becoming a graphic designer. The iMMerse workshop aims to identify, nurture and develop creative talents in the digital multimedia community and industry within the nation. During an interview with the Sunday Bulletin, Jason Ong was delighted to introduce a new platform for photographers in Brunei to obtain a proper, standardised education in photography at three levels, through a newly-established institution in Brunei called ‘Digital Synergy Academy of Photography’. “From there, one can obtain a Career Certificate in Photography, Executive Diploma in Photography and Professional Diploma in Photography. These various levels of certification allow for different classes of photographers to obtain accreditation from an operation in collaboration with the Open University of Malaysia, and endorsed by Wedding and Portrait Photographers Malaysia (WPPM),” said Jason Ong. He also said the Brunei branch will be the third branch opened, with the two other branches located in Kuala Lumpur and Kuching. “When Digital Synergy has been properly established in Brunei, I hope to be able to help raise the level of photography in Brunei, with proper guidance from professionals certified to teach photography. From there it will be a more achievable goal to place Brunei on the world map in terms of photography,” added Jason. – Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Related
