LSG 2010 – Are YOU gonna be there? Posted on 28/05/2010 By Reedz Click on the poster for more info! This annual sporting event is hosted by Loughborough Students’ Union Brunei Society (commonly known as LufBru) and held in Brunei Darussalam over the summer holidays. The tournament is open to Bruneians currently studying in the United Kingdom and any non-UK students who participate in the games would be considered imports which are limited to a certain number. Over a period of three days, the students will participate in three sports which are futsal, netball and badminton The Lufbru Summer Games aim to foster close relationships between students as well as to develop the spirit of sportsmanship. Last year’s Summer Games was organised by the previous committee in Brunei on August 14 – 16 2009 and the Guest of Honour present to officiate the event was the British High Commissioner to Brunei, Mr. Rob Fenn. LufBru was established back in 2007 and has since then held the Summer Games. Over the years, the success of this event has escalated even more and it is no surprise that it has been awarded as the “Most Outstanding Event” for 3 years running by Loughborough Students’ Union. Throughout these years the Summer Games have been carried out successfully with much appreciation going out to the sponsors British Council, Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas Sdn Bhd, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Sunlit Advertising, The Empire Hotel & Country Club to name a few. As the event will be returning this coming summer, the current LufBru committee is seeking for more potential sponsors to make this event a success such as its predecessors. That’s right !This highly anticipated event will be back for the summer of 2010. So to everyone, be on the alert for the announcement.
