Update!

Polar Girl, Dk Najibah Eradah binti P.A.M. Al-Sufri Pg M-L Kahar, will be joining the "SMARTER’s Charity Giant Walk" albeit with a challenging twist on May 3, 2009 in a bid to publicise the charity event.

Era’s 40km journey will start from the Tutong Hospital in Tutong town all the way to the Giant Hypermart in Rimba, Gadong. Throughout the walk, she would be pulling a 12-inch tyre as part of her training which simulates her dragging a 100kg ‘pulk’ or sled.

Supporting Era are three members of the Brunei Adventure Recreation Association (BARA); Shahiran Sheriffuddin, Illi aiman Abdul Rahman and Hussein Awang Napiah. Hussein will be the exception to the group as he would be walking from Belait on May 2, 2009.

Stretching an estimated 108 kilometres, the "SMARTER’s Charity Giant Walk" will start at the Belait SMARTER Centre and end at Giant Hypermart, Rimba. Along the route, there would be five major stopping points: Kuala Belait-based Brunei Shell Recreation Club, Anduki, Sungai Liang Clinic, Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in the Tutong district and Giant Hypermart.

Exhibitions on autism will also be held at the check points to raise awareness and funds. The public is encouraged to join the walk at different stages, primarily to give moral support to Malai Hj Abdullah on his solo journey to complete the course. During the last two kilometres, the president will be joined by the children of SMARTER and a marching band.

Era has several more months to train hard before joining the other participants of the Commonwealth Women’s Antarctic Expedition in November 2009.

E-Government in Brunei…

Posted on 13/07/200628/08/2019

E-Government, efficiency, accountability and transparency – it looks like we want to put electronic watchdogs behind everyone and everything. Is this what we really want? Perhaps not. These should perhaps be outcomes of real democracy, which we aspire to (well eventually anyway). E-Government can be a vehicle for achieving this….
