Brunei Students Society of Melbourne (BSSMelb) recently organized a little get together in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations of 2007. It took place on the 14th of October at the La Paella Restaurant, a well decorated Moroccan establishment on Sydney Road, Melbourne. It was a quaint gathering with about 40 people in attendance giving everyone a chance to celebrate this occasion together.

For many it would have been the first Hari Raya celebration away from home. Hari Raya songs playing in the background, traditional malay kuih being served and the arrival of guests adorned with colourful baju kurung and baju melayu certainly brought with it the air of festivity. An assembly such as this is beneficial as it brings familiarity to the nostalgic and a welcoming break to those preparing for their end of year examinations.
