Brunei Students Society of Melbourne (BSSMelb) recently organized a little get together in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations of 2007. It took place on the 14th of October at the La Paella Restaurant, a well decorated Moroccan establishment on Sydney Road, Melbourne. It was a quaint gathering with about 40 people in attendance giving everyone a chance to celebrate this occasion together.

For many it would have been the first Hari Raya celebration away from home. Hari Raya songs playing in the background, traditional malay kuih being served and the arrival of guests adorned with colourful baju kurung and baju melayu certainly brought with it the air of festivity. An assembly such as this is beneficial as it brings familiarity to the nostalgic and a welcoming break to those preparing for their end of year examinations.

A new year gathering at The Residence

Posted on 07/01/200908/05/2019

I had the honour of being invited to a new year get together at the residence of the Australian High Commissioner last weekend. It was a casual affair with a scrumptuous spread (as usual!) and a wonderful crowd, some familiar and some new to me. Thank you for having me…

An afternoon at Pablo’s

Posted on 04/02/200804/02/2008

Pics taken at the cake tasting session organized by Bunny and Pablo at their home yesterday afternoon. It was a huge success with heaps of people dropping by to taste Bunny’s Yummies. I think she will have a hard time keeping up with the orders from the session! Good problem…
