Negaraku Brunei Darussalam – 30th National Day

On the eve of our beloved country’s 30th National Day, I penned this in a rather melancholy state of mind but it sums up my hopes and aspirations for my beloved country moving forward…

I love my country.
Passionately.
It used to be a land of tolerance and friendship.
Of harmony between the different races.
Of understanding and give and take.
But I hardly recognize what it’s becoming.
And I’m not sure I like where it’s heading…
Towards a land of segregation.
A land where the few oppress the many.
A land of intolerance and imposition.
No, I’m not sure I like where it’s heading at all…
