Christmas morning in Brunei
A HUGE congratulations to Jenny M who gave birth to baby Izzy yesterday at 6am after 14 hours of labour! Well done R&J! Also to momma for the second time, N, who also gave birth yesterday to a baby girl! Congratulations H&N! See ya soon!

Zul: Strangely, I was the only photog there this morning.
Maybe the other media are bored with these christmas masses... or perhaps they covered last night's mass.
Intriguing comment about it not feeling right... care to elaborate?

What I meant was that it didn't feel right to intrude into other people's place of worship ... maybe if I was carrying my 300mm lens, clicking away from afar ... it would be a lil' ok ... I guess ...
But if they didn't mind you being there ( it's not as if they couldn't see you
), I should've went, too.

Ah, I see... I agree that it would be rude to intrude into a place of worship, and that's why you always ask for permission before going in, heheh. A 300mm lens will only make you look suspicious. Why not use a short lens and interact with your subjects instead?
I think one of the greatest challenges for a photographer (esp a street photographer) is being at the right spot to capture the moment without appearing to be there... and as an aspiring street photographer, I have to challenge myself to do just that, but at the same time, be sensitive to my surroundings.
A smile here and there, a «merry christmas to you maam/sir» here and there goes a long way to making your subjects comfortable with your presence. Its partly the attitude and frame of mind that you put yourself into before embarking on such outings.
If you're happy and it shows, then most likely, others will absorb your happy energy

Hmm ... interesting point, AB. I do have a 50mm lens I'm fond of, maybe I should get into the thick things more often. Politely, of course.
And I'm gonna follow your suggestions and join Bruneiforever and GemilangForums ... and it'll be great to join you guys on your outings, probably would learn alot of things.

Everyone there is just like everyone else.. a smile here and there always breaks the ice.

You should have been at the Christmas Eve midnight mass! There was glow sticks and caroling with the lights turned off...surreal and very very rave like :p

hey, thanks AB for posting those nice pics..fyi, its our first Christmas service in the new building & like tina said, u shud hv been there on Christmas Eve. Maybe next year??
